Police have filed official charges against the alleged GTA 6 leaker.

“The teen is accused with violating his bail and two charges of computer usage.”

The 17-year-old who was detained on suspicion of hacking and is now accused of being the source of last weekend’s bombshell GTA 6 leaks.

A young boy from the UK was detained on September 22 on suspicion of hacking, and a fresh report has connected him to the recent Rockstar Games breach that led to over 90 GTA 6(opens in new tab) videos and screens leaking online during the previous weekend (opens in new tab).

The 17-year-old, who can only be identified by the initials A.K. due to legal restrictions, was “arrested in Oxfordshire for the cyber attack on Rockstar and Uber,” according to a tweet from journalist Matthew Keys(opens in new tab). The police have not publicly confirmed that the arrest is connected to Rockstar’s security breach. He added that the juvenile who was detained earlier this year for hacking Nvidia and Microsoft was the same one.

He has been accused of “two computer offences and two charges of breaking his bail,” according to Keys. It’s believed that the rumours linking the teen to the hacker collective Lapsus$ are accurate.

The City of London Police (not to be confused with the Metropolitan Police), in an amended statement made over the weekend, stated:

“On Thursday, September 22, the National Cyber Crime Unit of the National Crime Agency assisted the City of London Police in an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking. He is still being held by police after being charged in relation to this inquiry.

“The youngster is accused of two charges of violating the terms of his bail and two counts of internet abuse.”

Yesterday, September 24, the adolescent appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court, however there has been no further word on the outcome of that court appearance.

Regarding Rockstar alone, On Monday, it formally acknowledged the leak (opens in new tab).

According to a tweet from the studio, “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorised third party illegally accessed and copied private material from our computers, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.”

Rockstar appears to be responding to worries that a leak of this nature could force the company to scratch and rework non-trivial parts of GTA 6. “At this moment, we do not foresee any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term influence on the development of our ongoing projects,” Rockstar adds. Rockstar adds, “Our development on the following Grand Theft Auto game will go as scheduled.”

The GTA 6 leak was horrible for everyone, but I’m delighted creators are celebrating the brokenness of games, Austin stated in his article, “The GTA 6 leak helped nobody” (opens in new tab). ” It did, however, indirectly lead to a great deal more game creators being open and honest about the process of creating games, which is always a delight.

“To put the leak into context and dispel quick criticism of incomplete games and graphics, many developers even provided some of their own in-progress builds. It’s uncommon for the gaming community to unite behind initiatives like this, and it’s even more unusual for so many developers to come together and lay out their processes.”

If you want to pass the time while you wait for the next game in the series, there are several games like GTA(opens in new tab).
