Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, stated in a new statement that his mother’s loss “has left an enormous vacuum in all our lives.”

Prince Edward, the Queen’s son, has issued a formal statement in the wake of her passing.

The death of the monarch, according to Edward, 58, “has left an immeasurable emptiness in all of our lives.”

On September 8, Her Majesty passed away at the age of 96.

Prince Edward, the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II, issued a new statement following his mother’s passing, claiming that the occasion “has left an immeasurable gap in all our lives.”

On September 8, the Queen passed away at Balmoral Castle. She was 96.

The Earl of Wessex, 58, shared a statement with Insider from Buckingham Palace that read, “We have been overwhelmed by the tide of emotion that has engulfed us and the sheer number of people who have gone out of their way to express their own love, admiration and respect to such a very special and unique person who was always there for us.”

He thanked everyone for their support during their time of sadness and added, “And now, we are there for her, united in pain.”

James and Louise are “enjoying the places and activities that their grandparents loved so much,” according to Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

“Since my mother allowed us to spend so much time with her, I believe that she also took pleasure in witnessing the development of our passions. These times spent together, those joyful memories, have grown to be extremely valuable to each of us, he continued.

Every member of Edward’s family had learned how to “share our parents, especially our loving mama” with the public as they grew up, he acknowledged.

While it has been nice to spend time saying our own goodbyes in solitude at Balmoral, the time has come for others to have the opportunity to do the same. There are currently 12-hour-long lines to pay respects to the Queen while she is lying in state at Westminster Hall.

The baton she has carried for these past 70 years now transfers to the next generation and to my brother, Charles, Edward said. “May God bless Her Majesty and may her memory be forever remembered,” he added.

“The King is still alive.”

King Charles III, who ascended to the throne following the death of the Queen, has two brothers, Edward being the youngest. Prior to manning a vigil in St Giles’ Cathedral, Charles, Edward, and their siblings Princess Anne and Prince Andrew walked behind the Queen’s coffin in Edinburgh earlier this week.

The Queen will be laid to rest at Westminster Abbey in London on September 19. Prior to the service, the royal family is scheduled to participate in a procession.
