Reddit AMA: Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia Information

Through a Reddit AMA, Hiroki Ishii, Akifumi Kaneko, and Matsuzo Machida provided additional details on Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia. Creators of the Wild Arms series Hiroki Ishii and Akifumi Kaneko are currently collaborating on Armed Fantasia. Matsuzo Machida, who created the Shadow Hearts series, is currently putting the finishing touches on Penny Blood.

 

The AMA estimates that Armed Fantasia will have a playtime of between 30 and 40 hours. By coincidence, this was also the start of the first Wild Arms match. No sequel to Armed Fantasia is in the works. The environment will also resemble a fusion of Wild Arms 2 and 3. There will be automobiles present, among them a convertible. Last but not least, “meeting new allies and the ties you establish between those people” is a key element in Armed Fantasia. Six party members were revealed in the most recent game update; they will change as the plot develops.

 

During the Reddit AMA, Machida also provided more details on Penny Blood. It will have a similar playtime to Armed Fantasia, which is 30 to 40 hours. Machida intends to create a sequel to the game, pending the response. A 3D camera and a member of the LGBT party will also be there. The elements in the game will be the same as the ones in Shadow Hearts, and each individual in the party will have a unique elemental affinity. Because publishers prohibited the original Shadow Hearts team from include excessively graphic visuals or a heavy emphasis on horror, Penny Blood (an independent product) will highlight these elements and the narrative will be catered to adults. But there will also be humorous aspects. Finally, there won’t be any side storylines, only flavour text for the bestiary.

 

Despite not doing so during the Reddit AMA, Machida also unveiled Baby Cthulhu’s look. One of Penny Blood’s stretch goals was the mechanic from Call of Baby Cthulhu. The game’s mascot is a baby Cthulhu. Its growth will determine whether you receive the “good” ending or not, and you will be able to feed it the blood and flesh of monsters.

 

The Kickstarter campaigns for Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia both ended inside the first few days of their campaigns, and both will end this week on September 30, 2022. At the time this article was written, backers have committed a combined $2,310,529 CAD to both games.

Both Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia are currently being worked on for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One S, and Windows PC. Spring 2025 will see the release of Penny Blood.
