Redmi K60 series launches with an inaugural E variant and an upgrade to wireless charging

The Xiaomi Redmi K60 and K60 Pro have just gone official as the first Android smartphones of their line to launch with 30W wireless charging. They have also been accompanied by the K60E for the first time, which shares some of their better attributes, such as 2K AMOLED displays and an OIS-enhanced main rear camera.

Redmi has now confirmed that the latest generation of its K series has arrived, complete with a first-gen K60E powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC for the first time. The successors to the K50 and K50 Proon the other hand, have been unveiled as the Xiaomi brand’s inaugural Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 8 Gen 2 platforms respectively.

The K60 Pro and K60 have landed with 6.67-inch OLED displays that, while equipped with 1,400-nit peak brightness ratings, advanced 12-bit color, 120Hz refresh rates and 1,920Hz PWM dimming, is not of the Samsung E6 variety.

Nevertheless, Redmi may feel that the premium Easter eggs that persist all through the new line-up may make up for that, the upgrade to 30W wireless charging seen in the K60 as well as the K60 Pro and the Gorilla Glass Diet for the K60E’s own 2k (albeit 10-bit and 1,200-nit) AMOLED display included.

Then again, Redmi reserves the highest-end features of 120W wired charging and the Sony IMX800 as a main camera for the Pro variant. The similarly-styled K60E and K60 make do with older 48MP and 64MP shooters respectively.

Nevertheless, the K60 line manages to hit an affordable price-point, with the new E variant starting at just 2,199 yuan (~US$316) for an 8GB/128GB starting SKU. The K60 goes for 2,499 yuan (~US$359) at the least, whereas the K60 Pro does so for 3,299 yuan (~US$474).
