Flaunt Weeekly

On Saturday, YouTube and YouTube Music lost a ton of songsbut a deal with SESAC has now been reached and removed content is soon returning.

YouTube today said that it and SESAC have “reached a deal and content will come back up shortly.” @TeamYouTube says to expect a return “over the next day or two.”

“We’re pleased that SESAC reconsidered our offer. We’ve reached a deal and content will come back up shortly. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time.”

—YouTube spokesperson

If you’re in the United States ➡️ ️we’re happy to share that YouTube has reached a deal with SESAC. Content (that was previously blocked) will be restored across YouTube services over the next day or two. We appreciate all your patience 🙏

SESAC “represents songwriter’s and publisher’s copyrighted musical works” and offers a “blanket license agreement” to “publicly perform all of the copyrighted music in the SESAC repertory.” This covers over 1.5 million songs from artists like Adele, R.E.M., Jack Harlow, Bob Dylan, and Neil Diamond.

After not reaching a deal on Saturday, YouTube pulled content represented by SESAC in the US. End users could not watch videos or listen to those songs with exclamation marks and error messages. Impacted albums still appear in YouTube Music artist pages.
