Rob Lowe and his sons, John Owen and Matthew, pose in a shirtless boat. ‘Lowe Boys’ photo

Rob Lowe has a close relationship with his two young adult sons, John Owen, 26, and Matthew, 28, whom he shares with his wife, Sheryl Berkoff.

Rob Lowe is spending his summer vacation with his sons.

In a photo posted to Instagram on Wednesday, the 9-1-1: Lone Star actor posed on a boat with his two sons, John Owen, 26, and Matthew, 28, whom he shares with wife Sheryl Berkoff. In the photo, all three men are shirtless and wearing swim trunks and sunglasses as they lounge on the back of a boat.

Rob captioned the family photo, “Lowe boys on the Med,” and commenters remarked on how well the father was keeping up with his young adult sons.

“You’re giving these youngin’s a run for their money,” joked one commenter.

Rob and John Owen announced in April that they will star in Netflix’s comedy series Unstable. Along with Victor Fresco, the father and son serve as co-creators and executive producers.

“The series is set in a cutting-edge biotech research company, following an introverted, socially-challenged son who goes to work for his very successful, wildly eccentric father to save him from disaster,” the streamer said in a press release announcing the show.

The series was inspired by Rob and John Owen’s infamous social media interactions, which frequently included John Owen trolling the Parks and Recreation alum.

John Owen announced the role on Instagram, using the opportunity to poke fun at his father once more.

“I’m really looking forward to this. Who knew my childhood trauma would come in handy!? “Along with a casting announcement headline, the TV writer wrote.

John Owen and Matthew have long regarded their father as a role model and source of inspiration.

John Owen praised their father in a January cover story for PEOPLE, saying, “When you consider what he went through in his twenties, his meteoric rise and some turbulence, and his decades in the public eye… The day-to-day example he sets is to be a family man, a really, really good father, a really, really strong husband, and just a fun, kind guy to be around.”
