Rudeboy contacts twin brother via lawyer over music rights dispute

Flaunt Weeekly

The ongoing controversy between Nigerian music duo Psquare has reached new heights as Peter Okoye recently revealed that his twin brother, Paul, had contacted him through a lawyer amid an escalating dispute over music rights. The legal approach reflects the seriousness of the disagreement, which has attracted widespread attention and brought their longstanding tensions back into the spotlight.

The feud between the Psquare duo reignited after Peter’s latest single release, ‘Attention,’ which Rudeboy claims was sampled from an unreleased song on his upcoming album set for release in June 2025. The accusation has fueled discussions among fans and the media, adding a new layer to the already complex relationship between the brothers.

In response, Peter took to Instagram to address the public backlash he faced over the disagreement. He downplayed the criticism he received about the dispute with his twin brother, defending his decision to respond publicly and reiterating his side of the story.

Denying Rudeboy’s allegations, Peter stated that he has concrete evidence to refute the claims and is prepared to defend his rights regarding the music. He remains confident in his stance, assuring followers that he would continue to fight for his work.

Peter also disclosed that Rudeboy had taken formal legal action by reaching out through a lawyer with the intention of having the track, ‘Attention,’ removed from all music streaming platforms. This move has further intensified the disagreement, marking a rare instance of the twins involving legal channels in their disputes.

In his post, Peter expressed his frustration with the situation, stating, “Call us names, call us childish; it is fine. I understand, but anyone that says anything false about me and I have evidencethen I have a right to defend myself.”

Peter continued, saying, “Let’s stay WINNING. You claimed you wrote the song and you didn’t know any @calypso60music. Then how come @calypso60music and I are now telling you what to sing?” The statement hints at a longstanding collaboration with @calypso60music, underscoring Peter’s belief in his ownership of the track.

Peter also made it clear that the attempt to have ‘Attention’ taken down involves not just Paul, but also their elder brother Jude, who has joined forces with Rudeboy in this legal effort. In his words, “JUST FOR THE RECORD GUYS! JUDE and PAUL have written through a lawyer and are doing everything possible to take the song down from all Music Platform. But I will fight till the end. 🙅‍♂️”

He concluded his statement by affirming, “With my full chest! @calypso60music and I wrote ‘WINNING,’” reaffirming his commitment to defending his music rights and emphasizing his sense of ownership over his work.
