In the stuntman action drama, The Fall Guy for Universal, Emily Blunt will be starring alongside actor Ryan Gosling and director David Leitch.
The upcoming film draws its inspiration from the venerable series of the same name from the 1980s. Glen A. Larson, a famous TV producer whose work includes Battlestar Galactica and Magnum P.I., developed the show Fall Guy, which starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stuntman who works a second job as a bounty hunter to make ends meet.
Heather Thomas and Douglas Barr played his sidekick and a fellow stunt performer, respectively. Between 1981 to 1986, the show aired on ABC. Through his 87North production company, Leitch is also co-producing the Universal film with Kelly McCormick.
The script was written by Drew Pearce, who also served as executive producer on Universal’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Gosling will co-produce with Guymon Casady through Entertainment 360, Management 360’s division for content creation.
Glen A. Larson, who created the original series, and Geoff Shaevitz will also executive produce.
The movie is expected to start filming in Australia this fall, and it will premiere in theatres on March 1, 2024.
Deadline Blunt joining The Fall Guy was initially announced in Hollywood.
The Artists Partnership in the UK, Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern, and CAA all represent Blunt.
