Loretta Lynn-Crystal Gayle

Sister of Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Shares Rare Photos in New Tribute

One of the greats of country music is mourned. At the age of 90, the pioneer of the field, Loretta Lynn, passed away. “Our lovely mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” her family wrote in a statement to her followers after confirming the news.

In Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, Loretta was infamously born as the daughter of coal miners. Melvin, Herman, Willie “Jay” Lee, Donald, Peggy Sue, Betty, and Crystal Gayle were her seven siblings. The youngest was Crystal, who was 71 years old, and she was the second oldest. Crystal and Peggy Sue both worked in the music business.

A star in her own right, Crystal has received numerous honours including five ACM Awards and a Grammy. She was ranked among the top 40 best country music performers by CMT, and she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1977, her most well-known song, “Don’t Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” reached number one on the Billboard Country Chart and the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

The singer paid a moving homage to her sister on social media and posted it for her followers to see. Crystal posted several pictures of her family and stated, “A legend was lost to history. A sister passed away. I adore you, Loretta.” Fans showered her with sympathy, good wishes, and encouraging notes.

Together with them, we offer the family our prayers and best wishes during this trying time.
