Snoop Dogg and Eminem Smoke a Big Joint and Head to the Metaverse to Watch the 2022 MTV VMAs Performance

The rap legends gave an extravagant performance of their latest collaboration, “From the D 2 the LBC,” which was released in June.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg delivered an unforgettable performance on the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards stage.

Rap legends Eminem and Snoop Dogg brought their recent collaboration “From the D 2 the LBC” to life through the metaverse during Sunday’s award show in New Jersey.

Eminem, 49, began the performance by sitting on a black leather couch with Snoop, 50, who was holding an oversized lit marijuana joint prop and pretending to smoke it.

Eminem, who appeared surprised, asked his longtime collaborator, “Hold on there. Oh my goodness, bro! How did you get it in here?”

“I’ve got the connections,” Snoop replied.

“I feel like you’re getting me high again, bro,” Eminem said. “Dawg, that s—- is the size of my hand. That s—- is going to cause me to relapse.” (The rapper has been sober for 14 years.)

After getting pseudo-stoned, the pair was transported into the metaverse, where cartoon avatars of the rappers smoked more marijuana and performed the track in a colorful fantasyland complete with Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT characters — which also featured in the “From the D 2 the LBC” music video.

Halfway through the performance, Snoop and an Eminem in a fur coat returned to the VMAs stage to finish the song.

Following the performance, Cheech Martin and Tommy Chong appeared onstage to introduce the next act, Red Hot Chili Peppers — but Chong, 84, appeared surprised and delighted by a specific element. “We just came over here because we smelled that last performance,” the comedian explained.

The “Without Me” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rappers released the single in June as a tribute to the cities they spent their entire lives representing: Detroit, Michigan and Long Beach, California.

“This probably should have happened a long time ago,” Eminem said to begin the bicoastal anthem, which marked the pair’s first collaboration in more than two decades.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Eminem posted an Instagram photo inside the studio with Snoop and Dr. Dre. “Just a few bros.. hangin out,” he captioned the photo.

The two hip-hop legends last appeared on the same track in 2000, on “Bitch Please II,” from Eminem’s third studio album The Marshall Mathers LP.

The unexpected collaboration came just four months after Eminem and Snoop performed on stage with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar during the Super Bowl 56 halftime show.

“Took too long to reconnect with @snoopdogg- you know we had to make a movie,” Eminem said in an Instagram post promoting the song, which included the hashtag “CurtainCall2.”

The rappers joined Lizzo, BLACKPINK, Jack Harlow with Fergie, Mneskin, Anitta, Marshmello x Khalid, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj, and Panic! at the Disco on stage.

MTV is broadcasting the VMAs live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
