On her verified Instagram account on Wednesday, the actress shared pictures of her sister Lauren Hilty, brother-in-law Ross Mickel, and their young baby Remy.

“My beloved sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross, and baby nephew Remy were on that plane on Sunday afternoon when it crashed into Puget Sound off the shore of Whidbey Island,”

Hilty wrote. “My sister was eight months pregnant, and we were planning to welcome newborn boy Luca into the world next month, making this news even more sad.”

The 10 passengers on board the aircraft that crashed shortly after 3 p.m. included members of her family. Sunday, according to a press statement from the Pacific Northwest District of the US Coast Guard.

There are absolutely no words to adequately express the depth of our loss; the last three days have been the worst of our lives,” Hilty stated.

She is well-known for her performances in the TV series “Smash,” as well as “Wicked” and “Noises Off” on Broadway.

It has come to my attention that numerous news sites have misgendered my precious nephew, and some haven’t even addressed newborn Luca, she said. “The last thing I wanted to do was acknowledge this awful family tragedy publicly,” she said.

Additionally, she asked that sensitive information be withheld due to the juvenile status of her niece, who was not travelling with her parents and brother.

Everyone in our family has benefited greatly from the outpouring of love and support, Hilty stated. Knowing how genuinely loved Lauren, Ross, Remy, and Luca are has been incredibly soothing.

According to the Seattle Times, Mickel, 47, “was a well-known Washington winemaker and the creator of the Eastside-based Ross Andrew Winery,” and his wife, 39, “was an accountant who worked with small businesses on payroll and accounting.”
