Taylor Swift Announces Hollywood Directorial Debut with Searchlight Pictures

Taylor Swift announces her Hollywood directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures using her original script.

Taylor Swift has written an original script and will be making her feature film directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. The film will be produced by the studio behindThe Shape of WaterandNomadlandand additional details for the project are forthcoming.

“Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller,”saysSearchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield. “It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”

While this will be Swift’s first major directorial venture, she is no stranger to directing. The 11-time Grammy winner directed the 14-minute short film for her song “All Too Well” for the re-release of her fourth album,Red. The film starred Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink and won Swift the Best Direction award at the 2022 MTV VMA Awards.

She also won the Best Direction award for “The Man” in 2020, making her the only solo artist to earn two Best Direction awards. Additionally, she is the only female artist to win Album of the Year on three occasions.

In October, Taylor releasedMidnightsher 10th studio album, further cementing her knack for moving seamlessly between genres. Her Taylor Swift Eras tour was initially announced with 27 dates and received such high demand that it quickly expanded to 52 shows. The US leg of the tour begins March 18 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ.

Unfortunately, the rush for fans to secure tickets to Swift’s first tour in more than five years led to unprecedented outages for Ticketmaster. Taylortook to Instagramto express her frustration at the situation, explaining that Ticketmaster had assured her their servers would be able to handle the demand.

“I’m extremely protective of my fans,” she said. “It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”
