Flaunt Weeekly Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Tems earned the honor with her song “Love Me JeJe”, surpassing strong competition from “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake featuring Wizkid, “Sensational” by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and “Higher” by Burna Boy.

The song, featured on her debut album “Born in the Wild”, made Tems the second artist to ever win in this category, which was introduced in 2024.

The first recipient was South African star Tyla for her hit “Water”.

This marks Tems’ second Grammy win. She was nominated in three categories this year, bringing her career total to eight nominations.

In addition to Best African Music Performance, she was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning).

During her acceptance speech, Tems expressed gratitude, saying, “Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me this team.

The singer dedicated the award to her mother, whose birthday falls on February 3.

The 67th Grammy Awards were held on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
