Tennessee State Authorities have dismissed Michelle Branch’s domestic assault case.

PEOPLE has confirmed that the domestic assault charge against Michelle Branch was dropped on Wednesday at the request of the state of Tennessee.

Michelle Branch’s husband, Patrick Carney, is no longer charged with domestic assault.

PEOPLE confirmed on Wednesday that Tennessee authorities decided to drop the charge against the “Everywhere” singer, who was arrested on Aug. 11.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE the next day that Branch, 39, had been arrested and booked for domestic assault after slapping Carney at the couple’s Nashville home.

Hours earlier, the singer-songwriter had Tweeted, then deleted, a note accusing the Black Keys drummer of cheating on her while she was at home with their 6-month-old child.

Branch was later released on a $1,000 bond and announced her separation from Carney on August 11. The next day, she filed for divorce.

A Carney representative and Branch’s attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment on the charge dismissal.

Branch told PEOPLE in a statement after announcing her divorce from Carney, 42, after three years of marriage, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family.”

“The rug has been completely pulled out from under me, and I must now figure out how to move forward,” she added. “With such young children, I request privacy and kindness.”

Branch cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her divorce filing. “The parties are no longer capable of resuming their marital relationship and living together as husband and wife,” according to the documents.

The singer also requested to be named primary residential parent of the couple’s son Rhys, who turns four this month, and daughter Willie, who is six months old, and that Carney be granted “reasonable parenting time privileges” while paying child support.

According to the documents, the couple separated on August 11, the same day Branch announced their split.

The musicians married in April 2019 at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans in front of friends and family, including their son Rhys and Branch’s 17-year-old daughter Owen from her first marriage, which ended in 2014 after ten years.

From 2007 to 2009, Carney was married to Denise Grollmus, and from 2012 to 2016, he was married to Emily Ward.

The Black Keys are currently on tour in support of their 11th studio album, Dropout Boogie, which came out in May.

Branch announced on Twitter last month that her new album The Trouble with Fever will be released on September 16.
