The Call of Duty Next event will highlight the franchise’s future.

Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare II are likely to receive fresh information.

The future of the Call of Duty franchise will be revealed, according to an Activision showcase. The showcase, called Call of Duty Next, will start at 1 PM ET on September 15 and be aired on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.

The press statement states that the showcase will concentrate on the impending Modern Warfare sequel, Warzone 2.0, and the new Warzone mobile experience.

Despite being Activision’s crowning achievement, Call of Duty has recently had poor sales. Call of Duty: Vanguard significantly underperformed and failed to achieve Activision Blizzard’s Q4 goals, according to the company’s proposal to Microsoft for a $68.7 billion takeover. According to a Bloomberg story, as a result, the game for next year has been postponed, upsetting Call of Duty’s annual release schedule for the first time since 2005.

Additionally, a public dispute between Xbox and PlayStation centres on Call of Duty. Sony is concerned that Call of Duty, a once cross-platform game, could turn into an Xbox exclusive if Microsoft successfully acquires Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said in a statement to The Verge that the company wants to continue playing Call of Duty on the PlayStation for “many more years” when its current contract expires. The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, confirmed that “several” actually meant “three” in an interview with Game Industry.biz. He also referred to the agreement as “inadequate on every level.”

It’s uncertain if Call of Duty’s status as a multiplatform game will be debated at Call of Duty Next while mommy and daddy battle for child custody. To learn more, tune in on September 15th.
