The cast of the Apple show Ted Lasso is getting ready to say goodbye as the last episodes of the third and possibly last season are shot.

The cast of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso is currently filming Season 3, which is thought to be the last episode of the series, and they’re not ready to say goodbye.

Last month, executive producer and star Brett Goldstein said that the end of Season 3 will be the end of the show. “That’s how we’re writing it,” he told the Sunday Times. “There were supposed to be three.” Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, and Bill Lawrence, who helped make the show, have all said the same thing more than once. In October, Lawrence told Deadline, “We said this show would only have three seasons.” Apple hasn’t said for sure that Season 3 will be the last one.

“We are halfway through shooting Season 3, and I don’t feel ready to say goodbye to her in three episodes,” Hannah Waddingham told Deadline at the Ted Lasso FYC event in Los Angeles on Monday night.

She also said, “Brett and I were talking about [saying goodbye] earlier, and we’re both a little bit in denial, but at the same time, we’ve been expecting it from the start. It’s like a slow, long death. Man, I love her. She’s the girl I’m walking next to and taking care of. Even though that sounds dramatic, it’s how I feel. I can feel her through my veins, and I’m not ready to stop walking with her.”

Waddingham said that she and the fans didn’t think that executive producer and star Jason Sudeikis, who plays the show’s namesake soccer coach, would really end the show after three successful seasons.

She said, “I thought Jason would have to be pushed and pushed to keep going.” “I’m very sad because she’s brought a lot of good things into my life. Jason also has a lot—too much to count. He’s changed the way I live. He’s made me see people differently.”

Waddingham, who won an Emmy in 2021 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, wouldn’t say much about what’s coming up for Rebecca, but she did hint that things are going to change.

Waddingham said with pride, “When we see Rebecca again, she’s a badass b*tch.” “She is 100 percent and then some boss ass b**ch. She’s there because she wants to be, and I think it’s a good thing that she’s changed. She is in charge of that team and wants the best for them.

She went on to say, “As usual, her personal life is a delicious mess. Isn’t that how life is? You can never get everything under control.”

Jimoh, who plays soccer star Sam Obisanya on the show, wouldn’t say if Sam and Rebecca will still be together in the next season.

“I have nothing to say about that! The new Emmy nominee said with a laugh, “I can’t spill the beans.” “What I can say is that we do get into Sam’s love life a little bit this season, and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out and where it goes. You’ll see how he gets along with Rebecca and what happens to their relationship. No matter if you like TedBecca or SamBecca, it will be very interesting. All of the characters are going to have a very interesting ending.”

In the last episode of Season 2, Sam finds a business space that he wants to turn into a Nigerian restaurant so that Nigerian immigrants and other people who don’t live in London can feel like they belong there.

“First you find yourself in this new country, then you find your family, and then you find your community so you can start putting down roots in your new home.” “This is the story of an immigrant,” he said. “Now Sam is putting money into a business so that he can invite people in. Sam says in Season 2 that he hasn’t had good Nigerian food since moving here, so he makes that space for himself. This is how he keeps his ties to Nigeria here. He hopes that other Nigerians who live in London will find the restaurant and end up there. I really related to Sam’s story because it’s also my story and the story of my parents.

He also said, “Sam will face problems as he tries to get the restaurant up and running. Things aren’t going to go smoothly. Sam will do some things, and both good and bad things will happen because of those things. Not everyone will let this new kid say what they think about politics. It does have effects, and not everyone will react the way Ted and his team do. We’ll see him struggle with it and, hopefully, win.”

Just like Waddingham, Jimoh is having trouble moving on from the show and the character who changed his life.

“Sam Obisanya is a part of me in every way,” he said. “I can relate to this character a lot, and it’s been a dream to play him. Over the course of these three seasons, I’ve gotten to know him as a person. Now, I could play him even in my sleep. It’s going to be very hard to say goodbye to him. I really hope there’s more, man. So many more stories could be told. We’ll see if we get to do that. Who can tell what that is? We might be able to come back after a break. When we have to say our last words, I think there will be a lot of tears.”

When the show comes back, Bokinni says that his character, Captain Isaac McAdoo, is “trying to figure out what it takes to be a leader.” He said, “He has a lot of responsibility and is under a lot of pressure, but he’s trying to handle it all in stride.”

He also said, “I’m getting as ready as I can to say goodbye to Ted Lasso. I’ve always done this job one day at a time. I’m having fun on the trip. Working on this show has made me a little bit more mature. I was 26 when I started Ted Lasso, and I’ll be 30 soon. Isaac and I both went from being boys to men. I’ve traveled a long way with him. I’ll learn more about patience and how important it is to listen because of the experience. Listening is key.”
