Visitors to the Universal Studios Japan amusement park in Osaka, Japan, stroll toward Super Nintendo World.
Nintendo has announced the establishment of its first Super Nintendo World in the United States. This follows the theme park’s triumphant debut at Universal Studios Japan last year.
Universal Studios Hollywood tweeted the news on Thursday, stating that it will open in 2023 and that Nintendo-themed stuff would be available in its gift shop, but providing no more specifics.
After months of delays due to the pandemic, Nintendo’s first theme park opened in Osaka, Japan, in March 2021. It included a Mario Kart ride in Bowser’s Palace, a Yoshi-themed attraction, a Princess Peach castle, and Mario-themed eateries.
“We flawlessly replicated the environment of the game,” stated Ayumu Yamamoto, marketing communication manager at Universal Studios Japan at the time, to AFP. “You’ll encounter life-sized piranha plants and Bowser, as well as experience what it’s like to be Mario. It took about a year longer than we thought to establish our restaurant, and we are really grateful.”

The Mario Kart attraction, one of the park’s primary features that claim to bring the racing game to life, employs augmented reality eyewear coupled to a plastic red visor.
The ride follows a circuit around Mario’s antagonist Bowser’s scary castle, but each seat has a driving wheel and players may gather and shoot objects at opponents.
Music from the iconic Mario games can be heard around the park, and a smartphone-linked wristband allows visitors to earn virtual money by hitting obstacles in the same way that the Italian plumber does.
The original Super Mario Bros game was released for Nintendo’s NES platform in 1985.
The platform game, in which Mario runs and leaps over obstacles to gather money and defend Princess Peach from the evil Koopa turtles, was based on the older Mario Bros arcade game.
Since then, Mario has featured in a variety of disciplines, including racing, football, and golf games.
