The hosts of ‘Access Hollywood’ talk about roller coasters and the value of entertainment journalism.

Scott Evans, Kit Hoover, and Mario Lopez, the hosts of “Access Hollywood,” recently visited Orlando to record numerous episodes of the syndicated entertainment news show at Universal Orlando Property, filming from CityWalk, Volcano Bay, and other locations across the resort.

The presenters were able to return to Florida for tapings for the first time since January 2020, and one of the joys was, of course, being able to ride the VelociCoaster, which debuted last summer.

“I’ve never had anything quite like it!” Evans remarked. “The Velociraptor gets its name from its fast feet, and that roller coaster is fast!”

Of course, Evans and Hoover continue to be fans of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which debuted in 2019.

“Kit and I were on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures, and I forced her to ride twice, once in the front and once in the back because that’s how you do a roller coaster.” You can’t simply bike through the middle ones before moving on. You must have the complete experience!” Evans remarked.

During their tour, hosts Evans and Hoover were also elected Grand Marshals of the Mardi Gras parade, which was an incredible honour for them.

“We were sitting down after we threw all of our beads at one point, but how wonderful is this job?” Evans remarked. “Like, what we’re in charge of is having a good time and ensuring that everyone else is having a good time.”

The nicest part of visiting Florida for host Lopez has been spending time with his family. During the trip, he claims he’s been able to “get a lot of cool dad points,” and he’s even been able to get his kids involved in the production, saying, “They’re dancing.” They’re working on certain items.”

Though the week-long production was a lot of fun for the “Access Hollywood” hosts, it took place at a time when the world’s attention was focused on the Ukraine issue. Even though some may be quick to condemn individuals who continue to follow entertainment and celebrity-focused news in light of the global crisis, the hosts view their work as becoming even more important in the present context.

“Sometimes you just need a burst of the best energy,” Evans remarked, adding, “I believe we all take it very seriously.”

Even when circumstances are rough and the news appears dismal, Hoover echoed her co-host, stating that the entire crew works hard “to perform an excellent job, to maybe provide a little amusement” to viewers.

Weeknights at 7:30 p.m., WESH Channel 2 broadcasts “Access Hollywood.”
