Windows 11-Microsoft

The upgraded Windows 11 Photos app from Microsoft makes it simpler to backup your images.

The classic Windows 11 Photos app is no longer included among Microsoft’s pre-bundled programmes, but it is still accessible through the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has upgraded the Windows 11 Images app as part of the Windows 11 2022 Update, which is currently rolling out and promises to improve how users manage photos by integrating OneDrive backups and making Clipchamp the default video-editing tool.

According to Microsoft’s Dave Grochocki, the new Photos app updates the gallery and makes it easier to browse, search, manage, and enjoy photos.

Additionally, Microsoft removed the old Photos app’s video editor and replaced it with Clipchamp, a video editor that offers “basic” skills like chopping and splitting as well as “pro-style” features like transitions and animated text. In a Windows 11 preview released last year, Microsoft included Clipchamp to its collection of pre-bundled “inbox” programmes.

The Microsoft Photos Legacy programme, which includes the legacy video editor, is still accessible through the Microsoft Store.

In September 2021, Microsoft acquired Clipchamp with the primary intention of integrating it with Microsoft 365 for individuals, businesses, and educational institutions.

In addition to OneDrive integration for simpler cloud backups, the new Photos app offers a new “Memories” experience. Users can add more storage by checking their OneDrive storage quota utilisation. OneDrive and Clipchamp are already linked for the purpose of backing up altered movies.

“The update adds a stunning gallery, making it easier to browse, search, manage, and consume your photo collection. Additionally, it delivers a fun “Memories” experience, powerful experiences on Windows devices, and a simple way to backup your images with OneDrive “Grochocki stated.

In his announcement of the Windows 11 2022 Update, Panos Panay, Microsoft EVP and chief product officer of Windows and Devices, mentioned the new Photos app along with the new multi-tabbed File Explorer, the Suggested Actions feature after copying something to the clipboard, the Taskbar overflow menu, and the nearby share feature.
