Tips on finger placement and more for using the AirPods Pro’s swipe control to change the volume.

The ability to swipe on the earphones to regulate volume is one of the straightforward yet useful additions in the AirPods Pro 2 compared to the original. However, at first, the capability could seem a little strange. Here are some finger location suggestions and instructions for changing the AirPods Pro volume with swipe control.

The popular active noise cancelling earphones from Apple have many improvements in their second version. This contains upgrades to the charging case with Find My tracking, adaptive transparency, 2x greater noise cancellation, a speaker, lanyard loop, and swipe volume control in addition to the force sensor controls already present.

Check out our comprehensive instructions for a thorough examination of how to configure the AirPods Pro force sensors and how they differ from the other AirPods in the lineup:

Note: Only the AirPods Pro 2 provide volume swipe control.

Use your AirPods Pro 2 to begin listening to something.
By default, swipe volume control is turned on.
Swipe up or down on the force sensor with your pointer finger while holding either AirPod Pro bud.
Swipe on the pill-shaped indent (force sensor) found close to the front side of the stem rather than the stem’s outer edge.
Aim to position your pointer finger such that it touches the AirPods Pro stem and the part of your ear closest to your face.
Swiping with your pointer finger while keeping your thumb on the bottom of the stem can be useful for added stability.
When you adjust the volume, a tiny click sound effect will let you know.
To change the volume on your AirPods Pro, swipe in the following location:
