ATLANTA, USA – BET has announced that diamond-certified rapper, producer, and global icon Travis Scott will be honoured with the prestigious “I Am Hip Hop Award” at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards.
The six-time nominee for this year’s awards is being celebrated for his immense contributions to music, culture, and the hip-hop genre.
The event, hosted by Fat Joe, will premiere on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1:00 am WAT on BET DStv Channel 129 and GOtv Channel 21.
“Travis Scott is a visionary artist who continues to push the boundaries of music, culture, and live performance,” said Connie Orlando, Executive Vice President of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET.
“With his unmatched creativity and relentless passion, he has redefined what it means to be a captivating, inspiring entertainer within the hip-hop genre. We look forward to celebrating him at BET Hip Hop Awards 2024.”
The ceremony, recorded at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas, promises a unique celebration of hip-hop, featuring iconic club anthems from across the years.
The 2024 show marks another highlight in a career that has seen Travis Scott dominate the charts and the cultural conversation with his latest album, UTOPIA.
Widely regarded as “album of the decade,” UTOPIA became the best-selling hip-hop release of 2023, garnering over 50 billion streams globally.
Scott’s recent achievements include his sold-out CIRCUS MAXIMUS TOUR, which grossed $95.7 million across 44 dates, breaking multiple merchandise sale records and becoming the highest-grossing rap tour of 2024.
Megan Thee Stallion leads the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards with 12 nominations.
African stars Burna Boy, Odumodu Blvck, Maglera Doe Boy, and Blxckie have also secured nominations, further demonstrating the global influence of hip-hop.
Fans can vote for categories including DJ of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Best Hip Hop Platform on BET’s official site.
