Twitter account of Kanye West blocked after anti-Semitic tweet

CNN – After an anti-Semitic tweet was sent on the account on Saturday, Twitter locked musician Kanye West’s account.

 

According to internet archive records retrieved by CNN, in the since-deleted tweet, West stated that he was “going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE” and that “you guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.” He did not identify the group to which he was speaking.

 

The account was locked due to a violation of Twitter’s rules, a spokeswoman for Twitter told CNN. The company’s statement that the tweet “violated the Twitter Rules” has been published in its place on the account in place of the original tweet.

 

The spokeswoman did not specify which rule was broken; instead, she supplied a link to Twitter’s policies, which prohibit hate speech.

 

When the user would be able to tweet again and for how long the account would be locked were not provided by Twitter.

 

According to a Meta spokeswoman who talked to CNN, West’s Instagram account was blocked on Friday for breaking the company’s standards.
