Warner Bros. is now trying to copy the MCU with a 10-year plan for the DCEU. In the past, they tried to avoid direct comparisons.
It seems like the DCEU and MCU are always being compared to each other, and the DCEU always seems to be trying to catch up to the powerful Marvel machine. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said during the company’s Q2 2022 earnings call that a 10-year plan “inspired” by Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios will guide the future of the DC franchise. This is a change from the past when the company tried to avoid being compared to Marvel.
The recent cancellation of Batgirl and the rumored loss of Supergirl have made many people wonder if the DCEU can keep going as it is now. Zaslev said that there is a bigger plan for the franchise, which made many fans unhappy with the studio’s decision to cancel Batgirl even though the movie was almost done. After trying for years to speed up the DCEU to the level of Marvel, it seems people have realized that the only way to make the DCEU as successful as Marvel is to do what Kevin Feige started doing in 2008. Zaslav explained:
