WOMADelaide, held in the picturesque grounds in Botanic Park near the city’s CBD is known for its progressive music and its beauty, being surrounded by hundreds of trees.
But the atmosphere changed in seconds after the limb came down on two patrons just after 7pm.
A 55-year-old man was struck, and was lucky not to suffer from serious injuries, escaping only with bruising.
Another person was treated at the scene by emergency services for cuts.
Rod Savage was at the music festival and spoke to 7NEWS about the moment the limb fell.
“We heard a massive crack, then a huge thud,” he said.
“I turned, and lots of people screamed, as it was a shock.
“What was incredible was everyone ran towards the tree to make sure, if there were people under it, that they could help.“
7NEWS understands that the trees in Botanic Park are checked regularly, and the she-oak had been deemed healthy by professional arborists in January.
