WoMI Marks One Year of Empowerment with ‘Pwr Pose’ Anniversary Celebration

Flaunt Weeekly

Women of Music India (WoMI), the community championing inclusivity in the Indian music industry, celebrates its first anniversary with a transformative initiative, “Pwr Pose.”

In just one year, See ME has empowered over 2,000 women artists, managers, executives, and creatives, fostering collaboration and creating opportunities in a once male-dominated industry.

Founded by entertainment lawyer Priyanka Khimani, WoMI has quickly become a hub for mentorship, networking, and professional growth. Its impact spans workshops, scholarships, and exclusive events designed to amplify the voices of women in music.

Reflecting on the journey, Khimani said, “Statistically, women have shied away from making investments in their professional selves. ‘Pwr Pose’ is our endeavor to encourage more women to step into the spotlight and claim their power. All big things start with the first small step. Looking and feeling confident is what women seek, and WoMI’s hoping to give them just that!”

The anniversary event on Thursday, Nov. 28, offers WoMI members the chance to have professional headshots taken by photographer Sasha Jairam, complete with makeup and hair touch-ups to boost confidence. It also serves as a space for networking with industry peers and fostering a sense of community among women professionals in music.

In its first year, WoMI has achieved several milestones, including partnerships with Universal Music India and Sony Music India to host knowledge-sharing sessions and the expansion of its reach through the launch of a Delhi chapter in collaboration with BluPrint. WoMI has also awarded three full scholarships to women studying music production and engineering at the Future School of Music in Goa, furthering its mission to nurture female talent.

Prominent members of the WoMI community include artists Jonita Gandhi, Jasleen Royal, and Kamakshi Khanna, as well as influential executives such as Preeti Nayyar, Ankita Maheshwari, and Shreya Khaladkar. The organization has also earned global recognition, receiving support from rapper Raja Kumari and attention from international music platforms.

As WoMI enters its second year, it remains committed to transforming the Indian music industry into a space where women can thrive. With initiatives like “Pwr Pose” leading the way, the organization continues to empower women to invest in themselves and their careers.
