Xzibit to release new music on Conor McGregor’s Greenback Records

Rap icon Xzibit has linked up with Conor McGregor’s Greenback Records for his major release in more than ten years.

The record — ‘Kingmaker’ — is set to drop on October 11, with the track ‘Play This at My Funeral’ as its lead single and represents the Californian’s first album release since 2012’s ‘Napalm.’

A fixture of the hip hop and rap scene since the mid-90’s, Xzibit’s first major breakthrough came in 1999 when he guested on a track by Snoop Dogg and was subsequently offered a slot on the ‘Up In Smoke’ tour that placed him alongside industry legends like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Eminem.

Xzibit’s collaboration with McGregor’s Greenback Records represents another phase of the star’s career. “Xzibit my man, welcome to the team,” McGregor said ahead of next month’s release. “We are super excited to represent you and we cannot wait to get to work.”

The launch of Greenback Records was confirmed by McGregor in July of this year, and is operated by his business partners Richard Buck and Julian O’Brien with the stated intention of becoming Ireland’s first homegrown major record label.

“I am excited to create Ireland’s first major record label, in an industry that I have had great interest in for some time,” McGregor said of the venture. “To be able to come in and offer music artists a fair deal and properly reward them for their talent. This industry, like others, has needed an overhaul for a long time. I am excited for myself, McGregor Sports & Entertainment, to partner with Richard and Julian as founders to bring Greenback Records to life!”

Meanwhile, Richard Buck said that it is “a privilege to be part of this new chapter in Conor McGregor’s career” and vowed that Greenback Records will “challenge traditional norms for the way artists and record labels work together and Greenback Records will be at the forefront of revolutionising the music scene and supporting artists’ talent and creative vision.”

In addition to his extensive career in the music industry, Xzibit is also known for his appearances in movies like ‘8 Mile,’ ‘XXX: State of the Union’ and ‘The X-Files: I Want To Believe.’ He was also the host of the long-running MTV series ‘Pimp My Ride.’

Meanwhile, Xzibit will perform at the BKFC event on October 12 in Marbella, Spain that is to be topped by a title bout between Argentinian Franco Tenaglia and New Yorker Juan Soto.
