Your iPhone Will Receive iOS 16 on Monday.

Your lock screen and iMessages now have useful features thanks to the most recent iOS update.

When iOS 16 launches on Monday, Sept. 12, you may retire your outdated lock screen and usher in a new era of phone customization. As part of its autumn iPhone presentation on Wednesday, Apple disclosed the release date for iOS 16. It’s become a regular ritual for Apple to announce the upcoming version of iOS at its WWDC conference in the spring, test the software with developers and other beta testers over the summer, and then introduce the OS and the newest iPhone in the fall.

Since CNET has been testing the iOS 16 beta for months, we already know what to anticipate. The primary updates in iOS 16 include a more customised lock screen, limited editing and unsending of iMessages, some adjustments to lock screen alerts, improvements to Apple Wallet, and SharePlay support via messages.

The iPhone 8 and second-generation iPhone SE, as well as all subsequent devices — including the X, 11, 12, 13 and 14 Pro, Plus and Max models — will support the new operating system.

These yearly iOS updates are significant opportunities for Apple to make more significant changes to its operating system, which it has been doing since 2007. Even though iOS 15.6.1, the most recent update, contains a significant security patch, users may still anticipate lesser updates throughout the year; nonetheless, the major improvements are often found in the September upgrades that upgrade iOS by a full version.

The launch date for iOS 16 wasn’t the only thing declared on Wednesday. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8 and the new Apple Watch Ultra were also displayed by Apple.
