We did an initial thoughts and hands-on video when Apple debuted the second-generation AirPods Pro in late September, but we thought we’d check back in with a more thorough evaluation after using the new earphones for a while.
After wearing the AirPods Pro 2 for ten days, MacRumors video editor Dan Barbera can definitely see improvements over the original model. There is a definite improvement in sound quality and Active Noise Cancellation is noticeably better at reducing outside noise.
The volume controls on the device are convenient, and while Transparency works well, it can be difficult to distinguish between the old Transparency mode and the new Adaptive Transparency mode, which is intended to muffle harsh noises like sirens.
The built-in speaker that plays sounds while charging and Find My is useful, and it’s convenient to be able to use the Apple Watch charger to charge the AirPods. The battery life is also good. Without lanyards made by Apple, the lanyard loop is merely adequate and not very useful, and regrettably, there is still no way to modify the EQ.
In conclusion, the AirPods Pro are worth the price if you’ve been wanting to buy them but have been holding off. If you already own the original AirPods Pro but have been experiencing problems with the battery life or any other element, the AirPods Pro 2 are worth the money. Check out the video up top for Dan’s complete remarks, and then let us know what you think of the AirPods Pro 2 in the comments.
