AirPods Pro

According to reports, Apple will unveil new AirPods Pro on Wednesday.

Since 2019, the company’s mid-tier earbuds have not been updated.

Apple’s upcoming “Far Out” event will feature more than just updated iPhone and Watch models. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is also working on a new generation of AirPods Pro earbuds.

“The new AirPods Pro will update a model that went on sale for the first time in October 2019,” Gurman writes in his latest Power On newsletter. “I reported last year that new AirPods Pro would be available in 2022, and now I’m told that their big reveal will take place on Wednesday.”

For several years, rumours about the AirPods Pro 2 have circulated. Gurman reported in 2020 that Apple had tested a prototype with a more compact design that did away with the stems so closely associated with the company’s earbuds. Apple was also rumoured to be considering adding more fitness-related features at one point.

Recently, the general consensus has been that the new AirPods Pro will not have a significantly different design. They will instead include the company’s next-generation H1 processor, which will improve audio quality and battery life. The earbuds will also support the company’s lossless audio format and come with a redesigned charging case with enhanced Find My capabilities.
