The biggest change is that you can now stream live sports more easily.
This week, Apple released software updates for all of its platforms, including iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, macOS Monterey 12.5, watchOS 8.7, tvOS 15.6, and HomePod software version 15.6.
With iOS 16 and its competitors coming out in just a few months, these updates don’t add any big new features. The most visible addition in iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, and macOS 12.5 this week is the ability to pause, rewind, fast-forward, or restart a live sports game. Also, Siri on the HomePod can now understand Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese.
After that, it’s all about fixing bugs, making the game run better, and making other small changes.
Apple says that iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 fix a problem where device storage information wasn’t being shown correctly in the Settings app and make it easier for braille devices to use Mail. A problem with the sixth-generation iPad mini not being able to find USB-C accessories has also been fixed, but only on the iPadOS side. Apple says it has fixed “an issue in Safari where a tab could go back to a previous page” on all platforms that use Safari.
Apple didn’t list any fixes or changes for watchOS or tvOS as individual line items. All updates should already be on all devices that can get them.
