Billy, 5, has ‘no interest,’ according to Jimmy Kimmel, in learning about his open-heart surgery.

Son of Jimmy Kimmel is doing well.

The 54-year-old talk show host and his wife, Molly McNearney, went to the 2022 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala on Saturday. He discussed their 5-year-old son, Billy, who was born with a congenital heart problem and has received hospital treatment, with reporters.

“He is doing well. Billy is “one key reason he’s doing okay, even if he still needs one open-heart surgery,” Kimmel added “for the couple to go and donate to the cause.

He isn’t that large, Kimmel jokingly said. He stands three feet tall, roughly.

He also mentioned how uninterested his son was in galas or even his own treatments.

He doesn’t know what we’re doing tonight and wouldn’t care, Kimmel said. He had a small scar along the middle of his chest, and I tried to explain the heart surgery to him, but he showed little interest.

Kimmel and McNearney, both 43, had a challenging first year with their infant son, who required three heart operations (one at the age of three days) due to tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, a congenital cardiac defect.

The late-night presenter revealed to reporters that he has a personal reason for supporting the hospital.

Kimmel said, “We’re really appreciative. Our kid, Billy, had two open-heart surgeries here; he was born with two heart abnormalities, and they patched them up real good.

He added that despite his involvement with the foundation going back to “far before” Billy was even born, they never imagined that their family would be receiving assistance from it.

It came as a bit of a shock, but everything worked out, he told reporters, “We never expected that this organisation that we’d supported financially and by holding events for them would be a location that we needed to attend.”

Kimmel shared a heartfelt message on Instagram in honour of his son Billy’s fifth birthday, thanking the medical professionals who worked so hard to save Billy.

“Happy birthday to our little nut, who is five. Billy’s life was saved by the excellent medical staff at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai, and we will always be grateful to all of you whose donations, prayers, and kind words meant the world to us “Kimmel penned. “Please help families who want medical attention. Billy was seen grinning in the cute picture as he sat in front of a miniature cake with three candles on it.

The talk show host — who also shares daughter Jane, 7, with McNearney and has two older children, Kevin and Katie, from a previous relationship — first opened up about his son’s situation in May 2017, with a tearful monologue on his show. April 2018 also
