Flaunt Weeekly
Billy Corgan has announced a new solo project and North American tour. This June, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God will hit the road, performing music from the Smashing Pumpkins LPs such as 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music (both from 2000), and last year’s Aghori mhori mei. The announcement is in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness as well as the 25th anniversary of Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. Corgan and co. will commence their A Return to Zero tour in Baltimore on June 7, stopping over in Boston, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and more, before wrapping up in Minneapolis on June 29. Find the full itinerary below, as well as an announcement video.
Corgan’s touring band includes recently recruited Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Kiki Wong, drummer Jake Hayden, and bassist Kid Tigrrr (aka Jenna Fournier). In addition to the live dates with the Machines of God, Corgan has partnered with Chicago’s Lyric Opera for the world-premiere of A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness—a seven series performance taking place November 21–30.
The Smashing Pumpkins have also revealed the details of the newly remixed and remastered versions of Machina/The Machines of God and its companion Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. Corgan’s Highland Park cafe Madame Zuzu’s tea shop will exclusively offer the LPs in an expansive 80-song box set featuring a 48-track Machina and an additional 32 bonus tracks of demos, outtakes, and live performances.
