Reuniting with previous sweetheart Justin Long is Drew Barrymore.
The third season of The Drew Barrymore Show, which the 47-year-old host of the programme will launch on Monday, will feature an emotional visit from Long, 44, whom she dated intermittently from 2007 to 2010.
The former couple embraces before sitting down for an emotional discussion about their relationship in a preview of the season premiere. Barrymore broke down in tears as she talked about their shared past while wearing a cream-colored suit and matching platform shoes.
She said to Long, “I feel like we’ve been through so much together too. “You know, I’ve really grown up Justin,” I used to say when we spoke on the phone or FaceTimed. “I always wanted to prove to you how different I was from when we dated.”
You were the greatest, he said.
Barrymore provided a little more information about their romance, which she described as “hella-fun.”
We would get together, then break up, she added, adding that we were more hedonistic and immature than usual. It was chaotic but incredibly enjoyable.
The Barbarian actor concurred, saying “fun pandemonium — well sure, most hedonism is fun.”
Despite their wonderful recollections, the pair eventually broke up. Long and the Blue Crush actress Kate Bosworth have been dating since 2021; Barrymore, who divorced her husband Will Kopelman in 2016, is a single mother of two.
The talk show host, who co-starred in He’s Just Not That Into You with Long, had nothing but great things to say about their time together. Barrymore mentioned in July that she doesn’t know why she and Long are such a big deal in the media. She did, however, describe why he is such a terrific catch.
Barrymore told comedian Mike Birbiglia on her talk programme, “I didn’t grasp why we were ever an interesting pair. That didn’t make any sense to me. Like: Who cares? We’re not thrilling. In the 2010 movie Going the Distance, in which Barrymore and Long portrayed long-distance lovers, Birbiglia made his acting debut.
Adding that she had been “very much in love with Justin,” Barrymore said, “We’re hardly the first people to meet on the set and have a romance.”
“He is witty. The sharpest wit. You want to know why he gets all the ladies? Well, there are a few reasons, but… he’s fantastic. He’ll simply knock your socks off with laughter,” she continued, listing one of Long’s most endearing qualities.

The three-time divorced Barrymore has reconnected with other ex-spouses on television besides Long. She invited her second husband Tom Green to her show in 2020, despite it being their first face-to-face interaction in 15 years.
It’s just really good to come together, check in, and chat about it, as you’ve had a whole life and I’ve had a whole life, Barrymore said to Green.
