Lynne Spears, Britney Spears’ mother, responded to the pop star, saying in a shocking audio clip that she felt abandoned by the matriarch during her conservatorship.
“Britney, I’ve tried my hardest my entire life to support your dreams and wishes!” Lynne, 67, posted an old black-and-white photo of herself and the “Hold Me Closer” singer, 40, laughing together on Instagram on Sunday.
“I’ve also done my best to help you get out of trouble!” I have never and will never abandon you!”
Lynne accused Britney of abandoning her, saying, “Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless!” “I tried everything.”
“I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only, eye to eye, in private,” she ironically concluded the public post. ❤️🙏.”
Britney had called out her family for alleged abuse during her 13-year conservatorship, but she said she was “more angry” with her mother than with her father and former conservator, Jamie Spears.
“I heard when reporters would call her [Lynne] at the time and ask questions about what was going on, she would innocently hide in the house and wouldn’t speak up,” the “Toxic” singer claimed in a now-deleted 22-minute audio clip posted to YouTube.
“It was always something like, ‘I don’t know what to say.'” I just don’t want to say something stupid. We will be praying for her.”
Britney believes her mother could have found her a lawyer in “literally two seconds” if she truly wanted to help her.
“My friend eventually helped me get one, but every time I made contact with a firm, my phone was tapped and taken away from me,” the “Overprotected” singer claimed.
Britney and her mother have been feuding publicly for months, following the termination of the “Stronger” singer’s conservatorship in November 2021.
That same month, Page Six exclusively learned that Lynne flew from Louisiana to Los Angeles to see Britney, but the Grammy winner “didn’t even let Lynne into her house.”
“She is enraged with her,” a source said at the time. “Lynne tried to visit for several days, but Britney just shut her down.”
Lynne had filed a petition around that time, asking her daughter to cover more than $650,000 in legal fees from the conservatorship battle.
Britney recently shared screenshots of text messages she sent to her mother, a friend, and a lawyer from a mental health facility in 2019 — all of which she claimed received “no response.” Lynne also denied the allegations.
Britney even accused her mother of “giving [Jamie] the idea” for her conservatorship.
Lynne did not receive an invitation to Britney’s fairy-tale wedding to Sam Asghari in June because of their feud.
