The style and plenty of Toads in the Super Mario Bros. Movie are shown by a new poster.
On Thursday, October 6, Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct presentation, a digital occasion that will feature the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s global premiere trailer. Nintendo and Illumination released a new teaser image for Mario’s next animated adventure in order to whet fans’ appetites. This poster provides a fairly in-depth look at the movie’s visual aesthetic.
And it uncannily resembles a contemporary Super Mario Bros. game. Standing tall in his signature blue overalls and scarlet cap, Mario looks up at Princess Peach’s castle from the Mushroom Kingdom’s streets. While Mario is surrounded by Toads going about their daily business, there is at least one amusing visual joke: an antique shop selling objects from the original Super Mario Bros. game, such as note blocks and P-switches in pixelated form.
Nintendo warns that “no game information will be presented” in Thursday’s Super Mario Bros. Movie-focused Nintendo Direct, which will stream on YouTube at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
Tune in at 1:05 p.m. PT on 10/6 for a #NintendoDirect: The Super Mario Bros. Movie presentation introducing the world premiere trailer for the upcoming film (no game information will be featured).

Chris Pratt plays the title character in the Super Mario Bros. movie alongside Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Written by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film is co-directed by Aaron Horvath (Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!).
While most of the actors had fans delighted when Nintendo and Illumination announced an animated Mario movie in September 2021, Pratt’s casting was quickly made fun of. Pratt even made a video to show followers how diligent he was in perfecting the voice.
On April 7, 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is expected to be released in theatres.
