Although Google’s Stadia service may soon be discontinued, major developers like Ubisoft and Bungie won’t be silent.
Even though Google Stadia is bound to failure, a number of major gaming studios are planning to transfer user accounts, data, and even individual games from the service. These programmers include IO Interactive, Bungie, and Ubisoft.
According to Ubisoft support, the business is planning to make Stadia-owned games available on PC via Ubisoft Connect as of Friday. For Destiny 2 players that rely on Stadia, Bungie stated that it is attempting to determine its “next actions,” adding that it will give out information once it has a “plan of action.”
While Stadia will shut down on January 18, 2023, we’re happy to share that we’re working to bring the games you own on Stadia to PC through Ubisoft Connect. We’ll have more to share regarding specific details as well as the impact for Ubisoft+ subscribers at a later date.

The company is “working into options” for Stadia gamers to “continue your Hitman experience on other platforms,” according to a tweet from IO. Although the intention is good, none of these pronouncements are actual plans of action; rather, they are simply declarations of purpose. If possible, it would be good for Stadia users to keep their game ownership on other platforms, however for the time being, we’re awaiting information on how this might work.

It’s important to note that Google committed to fully refund any Stadia purchases, which we’re sure will be appreciated by many consumers. Even while many other platforms have shut down without making such an announcement, Stadia’s demise nonetheless surprised many users, especially considering that Google had previously promised updates on the service. However, the closure of Google’s own gaming studios in February 2021 seemed to portend the service’s eventual demise, which will happen on January 18, 2023.
