Japanese prodigy Rol3ert has shared a remix of new single ‘meaning’.
Still only 19-years-old, Rol3ert (pronounced “Robert”) is making serious waves online, merging J-Pop aspects with cute indie pop melodies. There’s something organic and hand-made about his work, with the Japanese artist treating the pop song as a prism for personal truth.
Sitting outside normal trends, Rol3ert is really cutting through – new single ‘meaning’ is going viral, ramping up more than 400,000 streams on YouTube alone.
An exhilarating listen, the swirling morass of sound amplifies a song with a heart of gold. Aiming to spin it in another directions, Rol3ert recently launched the “meaning Remix Contest” on SURF MUSIC, a global B2B platform connecting 36,000 creators.
The volume of submissions was overwhelming, until four standout reworkings were carefully selected from the pack.
The winning entry is by Vietnamese producer KIDCOZY – hitherto unknown, KIDCOZY’s reworking pushes ‘meaning’ to a different place entirely.
Tune in now.
