Significant ups and downs. Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans’ marriage had several “problems” before calling it quits, but the “primary” one was having children.

“Kelsea was very young and naive when she met Morgan, they clicked right away, but their relationship was always an emotional roller-coaster,” a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly, noting that their “intense romance” went through periods of “friction, tension and toxicity.”
Ballerini, 29, tried to keep her emotions “bottled up for so long,” but her loved ones eventually saw the “problems” in the relationship.
“She kept it a secret from most people in her life,” the insider adds. “The biggest issue between Morgan and Kelsea was their disagreement about having children.”
The source claims that the Tennessee native “wasn’t ready” to start a family with Evans, 37. “Morgan had been preparing for a long time,” says the insider. “They had been having problems relating to each other and being kind to each other, but the argument about children was the clincher.”

Ballerini has moved her concentration to her music since their breakup. “Kelsea’s songs have served as therapy for her, but she is also trying to be courteous,” the person adds. “Kelsea and Morgan have two very different views of the tale, which is what’s on display right now.”
After nearly five years of marriage, the former couple announced their intention to divorce in August 2022.
“Friends, I’ve always tried my hardest to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while still protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold,” the “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat” singer wrote at the time on her Instagram Story. “Since this is now public information, I wanted you to hear straight from me that I am going through a divorce.”
“This extremely tough decision is the consequence of a journey of love, growth, and struggle that has now come to an end,” she ended. It’s difficult to put into words… Yet I’m grateful for the years I’ve spent with Morgan and hopeful for the future. With very busy schedules ahead, please keep in mind that we are both delicate, actively recuperating, and doing our best.”
The Australian native, on the other hand, implied that the decision to pull the plug was not his. “I am really sorry to inform you that Kelsea and I are divorcing after nearly 5 years of marriage. “I wish things were otherwise, but it isn’t,” he wrote in an Instagram post. Later that year, Evans released his single “Over for You,” which was about the termination of their romance.
Earlier this month, Ballerini addressed her relationship with her ex-husband frankly while referencing his heartache song. “Who you marry does not determine who you divorce. “He’s taking half the house that he didn’t pay for while putting out a song about being blindsided,” the composer, whose divorce was resolved in October 2022, said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, referring to Evans’ latest EP about their parting. “Hurt people, hurt people, hurt people. “I completely understand.”
Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes’ Relationship History Ballerini, who is presently dating Chase Stokes, stated that she did not blame Evans entirely.
“I wasn’t perfect, he wasn’t perfect, and it wasn’t ideal. And so, there were definitely occasions that I look back on where I’m like, ‘Well, I should of done that different,’ or, ‘I could of showed up here. “I could have taken the flight this time,” she continued. “And in the unwinding, that’s what I ended up sharing with him, just like, ‘I need to own the previous few years of like, I think, I checked out a long time ago and I need to let you know that.'”
Evans responded to Ballerini’s charges on social media ahead of the singer’s tell-all interview.
“It’s incredibly heartbreaking for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with and loved with all my heart,” he tweeted on February 21. “She knows I’m not the type of guy to say things like that in public. I hope it helps if this is what she needs to heal. All I ask is that you not be nasty if you visit my pages. Don’t be cruel to Kelsea, and don’t be cruel to each other. “Life is far too brief.”
On Tuesday, February 28, Evans launched his five-part docuseries Over for You, which discusses his divorce from Ballerini.
