“Can’t wait for you to hear ‘Hold Me Closer’ with @Britney Spears,” Elton captioned the three-minute-and-26-second video, which also included the hashtags “#newmusic #electronicmusic #foryourpride.” In the video, Elton introduces a delighted audience to the techno-infused new duet version of his 1971 classic Hold Me Closer Tiny Dancer. As he entertained the audience, he wore a colourful pant suit and, of course, statement sunglasses. Britney did not appear in the video, but her vocals could be heard in the background as Elton performed. Elton’s Instagram account also shared the video.
Fans reacted in the comments section. “Sir Elton John, you are a living legend!!!!” one fan wrote, while another responded, “Sir Elton John, you are amazing.” “The song is on fire,” he says, alongside a row of fire emojis. A third stated that the song would most likely resurrect Britney’s singing career. “You will be the beginning of Britney’s new and free life, Sir Elton John.” Thank you for being who you are.”
The new video comes just days after Elton released a 14-second clip of the song, along with photos of the artists as children. Britney, for her part, released a teaser composite image of Elton in his classic sequin Dodgers uniform and Britney in a similar baseball outfit with “Elton” emblazoned on her jersey. On August 20, both appeared on social media.
