Calling Britney Spears Out for “Body Shaming” Oh No Girl, This Ain’t It by Christina Aguilera

In a subsequent Instagram post, the singer claimed that she was “by no means” being “critical of Christina’s lovely figure.”

For her latest statements on Instagram, Britney Spears is receiving criticism online.

The “…Baby One More Time” singer shared a picture of a Rodney Dangerfield quotation on the social media platform late on Monday, saying: “I learned there was only one way to look thin: Hang out with fat people.”

Spears quoted Christina Aguilera in the caption of the image, saying, “I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children… my dancers… ” I mean, I would have appeared quite little if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers. Why not discuss it, I mean?

Don’t you think my confidence would have been a little higher if I had been able to pick where I ate, who I contacted on the phone, who I dated, and who was on stage with me? It’s often difficult for me to realise how much of my womanhood was taken away at that moment, and everyone just stood by and said nothing!!!

The 40-year-old singer also made it clear that she would utilise Instagram as a platform for her own expression and that she would “be here talking about things people NEVER talked about!!”

While Spears partially used the post to talk about her experience, viewers in the comments section notified her that her caption appeared to be fatphobic in general and body shamed Aguilera in particular. They urged her to remove the post.

“Oof,” one commenter remarked. I adore Britain, but this was inappropriate. Body shaming to improve your self-esteem is not the way to go, a supporter said, while another said, “I agree with your caption but sorry Britney, this post is incredibly fatphobic. Not good. Tess Holliday, a plus-size model and advocate for body positivity, added, “Oh no girl this ain’t it,” after giving her two cents.

Use your freedom for good, not to body shame Christina, you know, the girl you grew up with and who has publicly supported you, a fan commented in Spears’ subsequent post.

Spears responded to criticism by writing a new post in which she claimed that her support for Aguilera was unwavering and that she had not intended to criticise the singer’s appearance.

I wasn’t criticising Christina’s stunning figure in any way; it is what it is! I once travelled to see her perform, and the first thing I observed was how different our folks looked on stage. Look at my post; I never once mentioned Christina. Spears shouted. I was moved by her act, and she is a stunning woman with influence. I appreciate you inspiring me, @xtina!

The “Stronger” singer also said that she has issues with her own body image and, as a result, would never purposefully make fun of someone else’s appearance.

“To be completely honest, I’m not trying to criticise anyone. The insecurities I constantly suffer with as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me are projected in what I posted. I would never purposefully body shame anybody because I understand how it feels. Not because I dislike anyone’s appearance, but rather because of how I feel about myself, Spears continued. “I feel like my family knew I was insecure, and people were attempting to deliberately feed into my fear by not allowing me choose who was on stage with me, ” the speaker said. I really appreciate everyone’s patience with me while I adjust to my new life.

As of publication, the singer’s original post is still available on her Instagram profile. Read it in its entirety below and look at the comments.
