Flaunt Weeekly
Welsh group Yellow Mill have announced plans for their debut album ‘Mill On The Hill’.
The band are an outrageously entertaining live force, somehow blending psychedelic pop, country flavours, and a genuine art school sensibility to create something theatrical, immersive, and fun.
Taking time out to focus on new material, Melin Melyn are back with a new era. The band’s debut album ‘Mill On The Hill’ is complete – it’s out on March 7th via Kartel Music Group.
The title points to a broader theme about this chapter of their work. Never ones to shy away from a concept, the material on the record – and the live shows around it – feature the six millers who work at the titular mill on the hill, powered by the music that they create.
Oh, and for non-Welsh speakers – Melin Melyn translates as ‘yellow mill’.
“Croeso! Welcome, one and all to the magical world of the Mill On The Hill. The yellow mill that sits on top of a hill, looking down on Melin Village and all of its wonderful occupants. Everyone is welcome here.” says Chief Miller Gruff. “Don’t be deceived, this is no ordinary mill. Our duty is to create music inside the mill for all the occupants of Melin Village, and anyone else who’d like to listen. Because, after all, who could imagine a world without music?”
Upcoming dates include EartH in Hackney and a hometown show at Cardiff’s much-loved Tramshed, while Melin Melyn will play a last minute underplay at already-legendary venue Brixton Windmill tonight (October 2nd).
New single ‘Fantastic Food’ is out now – stirring, divinely melodic, and deeply imaginative, it sounds like no other band around.
Speaking on the song, Deputy Miller Garmon adds: “On ‘Fantastic Food’ we explore the desperate lengths we’re willing to go to in order to find love & the frantic inner monologues that accompany us on our quest for intimacy, all while eating existential crises-inducing spicy foods. Delicious.”
