Samsung

According to a recent Galaxy S23 leak, Samsung will imitate Apple’s iPhone 14 design.

Coming up is a lineup that is somewhat comparable.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 will probably be one of the first big flagship phones to go on sale in 2023, but if a recent leak is accurate, the three phones in the lineup won’t look all that different from their Samsung Galaxy S22 forerunners.

The dimensions of the 2023 devices will be roughly the same as the 2022 handsets, and the corresponding screen sizes and resolutions will be the same, predicts the typically accurate Ice Universe(opens in new tab) (via GSMArena(opens in new tab)).

This action would be comparable to Apple’s most recent improvements, particularly the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, which have extremely similar-looking exteriors to those of the prior two generations.

The latest Galaxy S23 leak is consistent with an earlier report from the same source that claimed the Galaxy S23 Ultra would closely resemble the Galaxy S22 Ultra in terms of appearance. That knowledge has now been expanded to include the entire range.

Using numbers
Evidently, just the heights and widths are altering, and only by a few hundredths of an inch. The Galaxy S23 is expected to have dimensions of 146.3 mm by 70.9 mm by 7.6 mm (as opposed to the Galaxy S22’s 146 mm by 70.6 mm by 7.6 mm proportions) and retain the same 6.1-inch, 2340 x 1080 pixel screen.

According to reports, the Galaxy S23 Plus will be 157.8 mm x 76.2 mm x 7.6 mm in size (compared with the dimensions of 157.4 mm x 75.8 mm x 7.64 mm of the Galaxy S22 Plus). The display will once more be 6.6 inches from corner to corner and have a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which would reportedly measure 163.4 mm x 78.1 mm x 8.9 mm (up against the 163.3 mm x 77.9 mm x 8.9 mm dimensions of the Galaxy S22 Ultra). It appears that the screen will remain the same, a 6.8-inch panel with a resolution of 3088 x 1440 pixels.

Analysis: Similar but Distinct
The Galaxy S22 series is fashionable enough, and there’s always a chance that Samsung will decide to give us some new colours to choose from the next year, so we wouldn’t be very dissatisfied if all the improvements on the Galaxy S23 were on the inside.

Internal improvements are a given, starting with the chipset. According to reports, the Galaxy S23 phones will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and unlike past years, there won’t be any Exynos chipset variations.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumoured to be getting a 200MP camera sensor, but based on what we know so far, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus may only get minor rear camera upgrades.

According to what we currently know, it doesn’t appear that the new iPhone 14 Pro models will feature anything as ground-breaking as the Dynamic Island, but Samsung has already incorporated many ground-breaking concepts into its foldable smartphones, and there are still months for more leaks to surface.

Potentially the most potent smartphone ever is the Samsung Galaxy S23.
