Google’s smartwatch cannot be charged with any Qi charger, much as other wirelessly charging wearables. The issue with Apple and Samsung’s smartwatches is that they both need a unique charging puck or stand to recharge their batteries.
How much does a spare charger cost at Google?
Actually, Apple charges the same amount for their $29.99 USB-C Apple Watch charger that is available through the Apple Store. But a spare Galaxy Watch 5 charger from Samsung costs $39.99. The price of a spare will probably decrease with time due to third-party charging options, but it’s good to see that Google isn’t drastically overcharging here.
Update 10/8: The Pixel Watch charger has already sold out from the Google Store since we published this article, not even three full days into Pixel Watch pre-sales. The business isn’t even allowing new orders to be placed with late shipping. Fortunately, Best Buy and the Fitbit Store, where the Pixel Watch is also offered, also have the Pixel Watch Charger.
