Indian Lighthouse Festival to be held in Puri on October 19-20
The second Indian Lighthouse Festival will be held in Puri on October 19-20, informed Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through a tweet on Monday.
“The 2nd Indian Lighthouse Festival will be held in sacred Puri on October 19-20,” tweeted Sonowal.
“Join the celebration of our coasts, maritime heritage, vibrant culture & encourage the local community,” he added.

Progammes like beach clean-up, beach yoga, run for the coastal heritage, sans art competition, flavours of the coast, music concert with Bollywood celebrities, and amusement park with crazy rides will be organised during the two-day event.
The festival is an initiative by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) to transform 75 historic lighthouses across India into tourism spots.

This is in line with the approach of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to transform India’s distinctive lighthouses into captivating tourism sites. The initiative aims to showcase the rich culture, significance, and allure of these magnificent structures whereby they can propel the prospect of tourism and power the local economy.
Earlier, India’s first-ever Lighthouse Festival was held at the historic Fort Aguada in Goa on September 23-25, 2023.
