Flaunt Weeekly
Whew! Roommates, get into this one. It appears the cast of ‘Hamilton’ is hitting the Kennedy Center with “get somebody else to do it” energy! The Broadway musical performed at the Performing Arts Center during Biden’s presidency and President Donald Trump‘s first term in office. This time, though, the show won’t be hitting the Washington D.C. road, and Donnie is seemingly to blame!

‘Hamilton’ Explains Show Cancelation In D.C.
The musical was scheduled to run next year between March 3 and April 26, 2026. However, those plans are now off. In a statement on Wednesday (March 5), ‘Hamilton’s producer, Jeffrey Seller, clarified why it wouldn’t be gracing the Kennedy Center anytime soon.
“Our show simply cannot, in good conscience, participate and be a part of this new culture that is being imposed on the Kennedy Center,” Jeffrey Seller said.
Seller clarified that the Broadway musical isn’t “acting against [Trump’s] administration.” Instead, their form of boycott is “against the partisan policies of the Kennedy Center as a result of his recent takeover.” Seller added, “These actions bring a new spirit of partisanship to the national treasure that is the Kennedy Center.”
Thankfully, folks excited to catch ‘Hamilton’ in D.C. have yet to spend any coins on tickets. They hadn’t yet gone on sale at the time that the musical pulled out of the center’s 2026 programming.
What Did Trump Do To The Kennedy Center?
The Kennedy Center has been a lil’ shaky since Donald Trump forced out the center’s leadership and took over as chair of the board of trustees. His decision to do so is part of his broad campaign against “woke” culture. ‘Hamilton’ isn’t the first entity to stand against the president’s takeover.
Rysinger-musician Rhiannon Giddensauthor Louise Penny, and the rock band Low Cut Connie have also canceled scheduled Kennedy Center events. While singer-songwriter Victoria Clark went ahead with her February 15 show, she made it clear where she stands! While on stage, she wore a T-shirt reading “Anti Trump of. ”
President Trump has yet to respond to the musical cancellation.
‘Hamilton’ Has BEEN Standing On Business!
As for ‘Hamilton,’ the musical isn’t unfamiliar with taking a political stance. In 2016, the show’s cast delivered a curtain call appeal to Vice President-elect Mike Pence. He was in the Broadway audience at the time. The cast asked that the Trump administration “uphold our American values” and “work on behalf of all of us.”
‘Hamilton’ is a huge loss for the center’s upcoming programs. The hip-hop-flavored biography about Anthony Hamilton has racked up more than a few prestigious awards. Lin-Manuel Miranda is the creator of the story behind the first U.S. treasury secretary. It has won the ‘Best New Musical’ Tony Award, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a Grammy, and the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History. It also earned Miranda a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant.
