The “felix” and “lynx” gadgets from Google are visible in Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1.

By releasing QPR1 Beta 1 today, Google has already made improvements to Android 13. Even if there are many updates listed in the notes, it seems that a developer has found some secrets tucked away in the code that might provide information about new and unannounced gadgets with the codenames “felix” and “lynx.”

Kuba Wojciechowski claimed on Twitter that the developer had examined the code of the most recent QPR1 Beta 1 and discovered some intriguing information that wasn’t included in the release notes. The codenames “felix” and “lynx,” which have previously been said to be associated with an unreleased Pixel 7a and a long-rumored foldable Pixel gadget, are the first references to a codename. The developer goes on to say that the felix might truly be a foldable due to the camera hardware abstraction layer’s (HAL) references to folded and unfolded states and the presence of inner and outer cameras. There also seem to be references to camera modules with a Sony IMX787 primary sensor, a Sony IMX386 ultra-wide sensor, and a Samsung S5K3J1 telephoto sensor in the back array. The Sony IMX355 sensor is found on the front-facing or internal camera.

The developer also observed a mention of the aforementioned lynx gadget in the QPR1 Beta 1 release. Although there are few information about the device, it has been suggested that this might be an incredibly expensive Pixel phone that would replace the existing Pixel 7 Pro variant. There are references to a twin camera configuration employing two Sony IMX712 sensors in the code, which appears to indicate that the cameras have been updated since they were previously addressed.

The developer also revealed that the code makes mentions of a more expensive tablet known as “T6Pro” or “tangorpro.” Unfortunately, not much is known about this. Of all, all of this is just coded data that might or might not mean anything. However, it’s a good idea to bear in mind these points because one day, we might see these gadgets hit the shelves, and these kinds of hints will show us how far some of the gadgets have come since their conception.
