Made by Google has been counting down on Twitter for the past few weeks. The Pixel 6a will be available for pre-order on Thursday, and it’s already on Amazon.
Right now, you can “Get release updates,” and Amazon says you can pre-order the $449 mid-ranger on July 21 PDT. All three colors are shown: Sage, Charcoal, and Chalk.
Notifications include reminders and information about price and release date.
The list starts by focusing on a few things: 5G: Thank goodness we’re past the phone generation where the word “cellular” was right in the product name, Android was the operating system, the phone was unlocked, had a 12MP (wide + ultrawide) camera, and 24-hour battery life (4410mAh).
Meet Pixel 6a
It’s the cheaper Google phone that changes to fit your needs. It’s super fast, smart, and safe, and it’s powered by Google Tensor. It also has a great battery and camera.
This product page, which is similar to the one on the Google Store, goes on to talk about Google Tensor, security with the Titan M2 chip, protection from dust and water with IP67, and Live Translate.
The last big selling point is the camera, which is centered on Real Tone, Face Unblur, the new Magic Eraser, and Night Sight. There is a chart that compares the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It shows how they differ in terms of screen size, lenses, memory/storage, battery/charging (though the 6a is mistakenly listed as having wireless charging), and the processor.
