Gospel musician Solomon Molokoane, popularly known as Solly the Elderdies at the age of 65.
The legend passed away in the hospital months after battling illness.
Solly’s team announced his passing on his Facebook account.
“Dear Solly the Elder Fans. It is with great sadness that we are informing you on behalf of the Molokoane family, that is Solly the Elder’s family, that our beloved legend “Solly the Elder” has sadly passed on,” the statement reads.
“Solly the Elder was hospitalised after falling ill following his pre-album launch tour in Botswana. He will be sorely missed. May his laughter continue to echo the walls of heaven. Let us remember him fondly for the healing music he gave us over the years,” the statement further reads.
The family also pleaded “for privacy and time to mourn the passing of Ntate Solly the Elder and prepare for his burial”. Details of his memorial and funeral will be shared in the coming days on all Solly the Elder official pages.
