In an effort to make their new Apple Watch Ultra more aesthetically pleasing, one user changed the shell to have a brushed finish and to have the Action Button’s orange hue removed.
While many customers have praised the design of the Apple Watch Ultra, which delivers the first comprehensive overhaul of the product since the line’s introduction in 2014, others have criticised the size of the gadget and its striking new appearance. When I consider using it as a typical daily watch, there are five things I detest about the design. The “tallness,” the crown guard’s hunchback shape, the perforations all around, the orange button, and the aluminum-like surface that gave the appearance of Starlight aluminium. The first three cannot be changed, but the latter two are amenable to change.
They started by eliminating the high-contrast “international orange” colour layer on the Action Button before implementing two significant cosmetic alterations to the Apple Watch Ultra using a Dremel power tool.
The entire titanium casing of the Apple Watch Ultra was then given a brushed surface by the user using a coarse abrasive finishing buff, departing from the original device’s consistent sandblasted appearance.
The resulting brushed titanium finish closely resembles the casings of various Apple Watch Edition models, which were sold with the Series 5, Series 6, and Series 7 in brushed titanium. When the Apple Watch Ultra was introduced, Apple discontinued the Apple Watch Edition series.
