Flaunt Weeekly Composer Abhijeet Srivastava and lyricist Shayra Apoorva join the project for a love duet, which comes with an adventurous music video
Pop artists Aanchal Tyagi and Varun Jain hit the dancefloor with their high-energy new Hindi song “Doob Rahe.” The track comes with a music video that follows Tyagi and a friend on a night out at a typically vibrant Indian melacomplete with rollercoasters and Ferris wheels.
The project had its origins a year ago according to Tyagi, who was working with composer Abhijeet Srivastava on what was initially an ad jingle. “During that time, we realized the melody is kaafi dumdaar [quite strong] so we felt we should make a song out of it. After a year, we picked back up on it and finished the melody,” Tyagi says. They reached out to lyricist Shayra Apoorva and the song was co-produced between Srivastava and Dronark, with Hanish Taneja on mix and master duties.
“Doob Rahe” was also intended as a solo song for Tyagi but she felt that a male voice would not only make it a duet, but also “more lyrically conversational.” She adds, “We had two or three artists in mind, but I was adamant of having Varun on board, because I really like his voice texture. This is our first collaboration together, so we wanted to find out how well it blended. It sounded so great and our voices complemented each other.”
Jain, for his part, says that having known Tyagi for a long time led to this collaboration. “When I discovered Aanchal’s dynamic approach to creating music, I wondered if we could share a song that could make people’s hearts beat and no wonder, ‘Doob Rahe’ happened,” he adds.
An ideal setting for it, as both lead artists agree, is the club. Although Jain has a more nuanced response in saying it’s “an individual choice.” He adds, “We created ‘Doob Rahe’ to reach people’s hearts, no matter where it plays. Be it a club or when one is all by oneself, it’s all about where you feel the most connected with music.”
Tyagi adds that the bass-driven song is likely best heard on a big speaker vibe. “When you listen to the first few cycles of the song, you get the groove of the song. At clubs and parties, especially New Year’s Eve, they should play this song,” she adds with a laugh.
Jain and Tyagi have steadily found their place in mainstream and independent pop over the years. Jain has contributed to films like Zara Hatke Zara Children with “Tere Vaaste” and led singles like “Ishqa” and “Darmiyaan.” Tyagi scored big with her breakout pop song “Saajanwa” in 2022 and later, “Gulabi” in 2023.
In the coming year, Jain promises “many mind-blowing projects.” He adds, “All I can assure is the best is yet to come.” Tyagi says they may plan more singles in the future, but in 2025, she has solo songs as well as collaborations with pop artists like Aditya Rikhari, Madhur Sharma and more.
